In 1967, after 4 years as a
design draftsman working for a local civil engineering firm in
Charlotte, North Carolina, Tim Buchanan decided to follow in his
father's footsteps and become a custom hand engraver of precious metals.
Tim's father, James D.
Buchanan (1918 - 2003), started his engraving career at the age of
16. "Jimmy" retired at 76 after 60 years of creating new
lettering styles, winning national awards for both his artistic and
engraving abilities, and developing untold thousands of friendships with
happy clients the world over. His legacy lives on.
For 42 years now, Tim has been
producing authentic hand engraved heirlooms. He offers his customers a
uniqueness in design and craftsmanship that makes a truly one of a kind piece to
be a treasured keepsake for many years. Just take a look at some of his

Tim's work is known internationally
by kings, presidents, professional athletes, state governments and the corporate
world. However, he mostly enjoys working one-on-one and prides himself in
being able to produce high quality pieces of art for "ordinary
people".
Over the years he has had
the honor and pleasure of engraving thousands of custom requests
including coats-of-arms, company logos, monograms, signatures,
children's silhouettes, pets and even landscapes. He has engraved
these images on rings, earrings, charms, jewelry boxes, lockets,
pendants, trays, loving cups, flatware, silver services and the list
goes on. However, his specialty is coat-of-arms engraving and
custom monograms and designs on silver and gold.
